Frequently Asked Questions About Patola and Bandhani

What is Sindhoi Patola Art?

Sindhoi Patola Art is a family-led Patola and Bandhani brand founded in Rajkot, Gujarat, in 1989 by Patola weaver Bhalabhai Devjibhai Parmar. The brand has stores in Rajkot and Ahmedabad and serves customers online in India and internationally.

What is the difference between Single Ikat and Double Ikat Patola?

In Single Ikat, one set of yarns—warp or weft—is resist-dyed before weaving. Rajkot Patola is known for this technique. In Double Ikat, both warp and weft yarns are resist-dyed and precisely aligned during weaving; Patan Patola is renowned for this highly complex process.

Are your Patola sarees handwoven?

Patola products identified as handwoven are made on handlooms. The exact weave, material, dimensions and included blouse piece are stated on each product page.

Is every Patola saree GI-certified?

The Patan Patola geographical indication applies to qualifying Patan Patola products. GI-certified pieces are identified in the relevant listing. Single Ikat Rajkot Patola is a distinct Gujarat weaving tradition and should not be confused with Double Ikat Patan Patola.

What is Bandhani or Bandhej?

Bandhani, also called Bandhej, is a traditional tie-dye craft in which artisans tie many small points on the fabric before dyeing. When the ties are opened, they reveal characteristic dots, waves, florals and other patterns.

Why can handmade textiles look slightly different from photographs?

Handwoven and hand-dyed textiles can show small variations in colour, pattern alignment and finish. Screen settings and lighting also affect colour appearance. These natural variations give each artisan-made piece its individual character.

Can I see a saree or dupatta on video before ordering?

Yes. Contact us on WhatsApp at +91 95101 11976 with the product link or screenshot to request a video-shopping consultation.

Do you ship outside India?

Yes, Sindhoi Patola Art ships worldwide. Available shipping methods, charges and estimated delivery depend on the destination and are shown or confirmed during ordering.

How should I care for Patola and Bandhani?

Follow the care instructions on the individual product page. Dry cleaning is generally recommended for silk Patola and many Bandhani textiles. Store clean and dry, avoid prolonged direct sunlight and refold periodically to prevent permanent creases.
